Tioga Arts Council Podcast Series
For much of American history, women’s stories have been largely overlooked, neglected, and, even, silenced. With the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, American women took their first step toward enfranchisement and the recognition of their full humanity. To honor this momentous occasion, Tioga Arts Council (TAC) proudly presents its Women’s Voices, Women’s Lives project.
We asked women of all ages and backgrounds from the Southern Tier to celebrate a sisterhood of experience; participants selected a passage, a poem, or a quote by an American woman who inspires them, read it aloud, and reflected on how it speaks to us today the 21st century. In the coming weeks, we will breathe life into old words, share unfiltered reflections, and allow our most deeply-felt truths to be heard.
